The Developmental (DEV) Psychology program builds on a fast-growing field of interdisciplinary research that connects psychophysiological, social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Since human development involves diverse psychological processes and occurs within varied environments that both shape and are shaped by individuals, comprehensive developmental study demands combining multiple perspectives, examining different analytical levels, and utilizing diverse research methods and data analysis techniques. Our work examines social, individual, and neurological dimensions to explore how fundamental human emotional and cognitive abilities develop, including forming close relationships, managing emotions and thoughts, memory functions, social understanding, concept formation, and language learning. Our labs employ cutting-edge observation methods, behavioral experiments, and neurophysiological measures (EEG, ERP) to study both typical and atypical developmental trajectories. Doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers gain comprehensive training across these analytical levels, subject areas, and research methodologies.
