The Biological Sciences program provides an intensive introduction to contemporary experimental biology fields. Students complete fundamental courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics before advancing to specialized upper-level classes that reflect key research domains in modern biology, spanning molecular investigations to ecological systems. Undergraduate students can participate in groundbreaking research alongside leading faculty members. This curriculum delivers a thorough, well-rounded education suitable for careers in government or industry, while also laying the foundation for advanced study in various professional or graduate programs. Students pursuing a Biological Sciences degree can opt for General Biology or select a specific concentration. All majors must complete identical CORE/Gen Ed, foundational, and supporting course requirements, with specialization differences appearing only in advanced coursework.
The ECEV concentration focuses on examining organisms within their environmental contexts across complex biological systems. This track specifically equips students for graduate studies, research positions, and careers in conservation, environmental biology, veterinary medicine, zoo management, or science policy. Additional details about this specialization are available in the ECEV section of the Biology Department's website.
