The Fischell Department of Bioengineering offers an accelerated B.S./M.S. program that enables undergraduates to earn both bachelor's and master's degrees in about five and a half years by applying graduate credits toward both degrees. This program is best suited for high-achieving students who want to advance research initiatives that can evolve into graduate-level work and eventually form the basis of a master's thesis. The Bioengineering program structure prioritizes core engineering and biological principles, incorporates hands-on engineering experience, and aligns with specialized bioengineering career paths. During the initial two years, students complete foundational coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. The junior and senior years concentrate on specialized disciplines such as biotechnology, biomechanics, biomaterials, and biomedical devices. The fourth-year Capstone I and II sequence, spanning fall and spring semesters, delivers intensive training in entrepreneurship, innovation, and practical engineering applications.
