Our department provides a Bachelor of Arts program featuring studies in painting, sculpture, digital media, printmaking, art theory, and graphic design. Students begin with a rigorous foundations curriculum emphasizing compositional principles in both 2D and 3D applications. After mastering these fundamentals, learners are urged to explore diverse media options within the department. The program cultivates distinctive artistic expression by blending contemporary art criticism with advanced technical training for creating impactful modern artwork. Participants can enhance their experience through internships and involvement with the Herman Maril Gallery, our student-operated exhibition space. They may also curate shows highlighting peer creations.
The print media specialization combines traditional methods like lithography, etching, screen printing, and relief with innovative digital and photomechanical techniques to redefine modern printmaking. While developing technical proficiency and analytical skills, students examine mixed-media combinations and their significance in today's art scene. The program emphasizes engagement with current artists through guest talks, group initiatives, field trips, national events, exhibitions, and print collections.
