The English Bachelor of Arts program comprises five core components that provide comprehensive instruction in critical methods for examining literature, rhetoric, and media, along with the forms and impacts of the English language, plus writing theories and practices ranging from creative to professional applications. A key feature is the program's four specialized tracks, each focusing on distinct areas within English studies and their practical applications. Students select one track to develop expertise in their chosen field, helping them refine professional skills they can communicate to potential employers. While encouraging specialization, the program's adaptable structure also enables students to explore interdisciplinary interests. Our curriculum delivers fundamental English studies training while creating avenues for cross-disciplinary learning, internship experiences, and educational opportunities extending beyond traditional coursework.
Creative writing involves deep immersion in one's own creative process coupled with rigorous analysis of accomplished authors. Engage with this practice through multi-genre workshops while mastering the inventive techniques writers employ to construct—and sometimes challenge—meaning. Students complete one course from each of these categories, with remaining credits available for any creative writing workshop: 200-level Creative Writing Workshop, 300-level Creative Writing Workshop, and Creative Form and Theory.
