The STEM Education Ph.D. is an interdisciplinary doctoral program designed for individuals passionate about advancing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education through scholarly investigation. This specialization is offered through the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) and overseen by a cross-disciplinary team of STEM education faculty from COEHD and the Maine Center for Research in STEM Education (RiSE Center). Graduates are equipped for academic careers focused on STEM education research.
The doctoral program mandates completion of at least 45 credit hours of graduate study plus a research dissertation. PhD candidates:

Develop advanced research methodologies while deepening their subject matter expertise
