Doctor of Philosophy: Generally, completing the Ph.D. program takes around 5 years for students starting with a bachelor's degree. A key component involves submitting a thesis showcasing original research in a specific physics field.
Additional requirements include passing the Graduate Written Exam before the fifth semester concludes and the Oral Comprehensive Examination by the seventh semester's end. Students entering with a master's degree must complete their Oral exam by their fourth semester.

Qualification Requirements

A bachelor's degree is required for ALL master's, C.A.S., Ed.S., and doctoral programs.
Official transcript of all previous college or university work
The Department normally requires a 92 or higher TOEFL score.
Physics Subject GRE. [1] This exam should be taken in the Fall of your senior year and requires advanced registration.
Official English proficiency examination scores are required from international applicants, unless the applicant has received a degree from an English-speaking institution. The University accepts TOEFL, IELTS and PTE.
The Department normally requires a 92 or higher TOEFL score.
Applicants should have a gpa of 3.0 or better. Candidates with lower gpa may be considered if they have a 3.0 in advanced physics & math undergraduate courses.
Reference letters are an important part of our review process. We suggest that you choose faculty very familiar with your advanced physics/math performance and especially value references who can comment on your research experience and ability.
