The Ph.D. in Physics program shares its foundational courses with the M.S. curriculum, with the addition of PHYS 5302 and PHYS 6306. Advanced course selections should be discussed with both the graduate advisor and research supervisor. To earn the Ph.D., candidates must successfully complete preliminary and qualifying examinations, as outlined in the department's Graduate Booklet and Graduate School policies. These assessments cover material from undergraduate physics and core graduate courses. A dissertation presenting original research is mandatory for degree completion.
