Zoology majors explore animal biology across cellular, tissue, organ, and whole-organism levels, examining their evolution, role in biodiversity, and interactions with each other and their habitats. The field involves not just absorbing existing knowledge about animals but also developing research skills to expand our understanding and address challenges in medicine, agriculture, and ecology. Graduates with zoology degrees can enter diverse fields including human and veterinary medicine, scientific research, education, environmental policy, and private consulting. While both B.S. and B.A. degrees offer a solid foundation in animal biology, the B.S. incorporates more mathematics, chemistry, and physics coursework and is the preferred path for most students. The B.S. track equips students for healthcare careers, advanced zoology studies, or technical professions. The B.A., with its emphasis on social sciences and humanities, suits those pursuing double majors or international studies. Zoology B.S. students can specialize in Pre-Medical Studies, while both B.A. and B.S. candidates may focus on Ecology. Neuroscience is available as a minor for both degree paths.
