The Department of Art provides Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degrees in Studio Art. Enrollment in the B.A. program simply requires standard UMaine admission, with no extra application steps. B.A. students can transition to the B.F.A. program starting from their fourth semester onward.
The Studio Art B.F.A. is a specialized professional degree offering six focus areas: Drawing, Digital Media, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Cross-Disciplinary Studies. Every concentration requires 18 credits of upper-level studio coursework, with the Cross-Disciplinary option enabling students to customize their studies by blending multiple artistic disciplines. All B.F.A. candidates collaborate with their advisors to select and guide their specialized coursework.
