The Department of Art provides Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degrees in Studio Art. For the B.A. program, students simply need to apply to UMaine without any extra admission criteria. Those enrolled in the B.A. can request to join the B.F.A. program starting from their fourth semester onward.
The B.F.A. in Studio Art is a specialized professional degree featuring six focus areas: Drawing, Digital Media, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Cross-Disciplinary Studies. Every concentration requires 18 credits of advanced studio coursework, with the Cross-Disciplinary option offering flexibility for students to blend skills from multiple disciplines. B.F.A. candidates collaborate with their advisors to select and guide their specialized coursework.
