The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in art history is a four-year degree that immerses students in the historical exploration of artistic works while teaching professional art historical methods, alongside requiring a complementary minor field of study. The Art History Program exposes learners to global artistic traditions, architectural developments, and cultural expressions across different eras. Our distinguished faculty, recognized both nationally and internationally, teach diverse subjects ranging from Asian and African art to Renaissance studies worldwide and examinations of art's relationship to human experience. As an art history student, you'll acquire: broad familiarity with significant artworks, influential artists, and varied cultural contexts; thorough training in art theory, visual analysis, and critical evaluation; hands-on creative understanding through studio art classes; proficiency in a foreign language for original research; and expertise in utilizing image collections, research databases, and innovative digital humanities techniques. This challenging curriculum offers excellent preparation for graduate studies or careers in museums and visual arts institutions. Beyond specialized fields, an art history degree cultivates analytical and imaginative thinking applicable to any profession. We equip students with fundamental knowledge that enables them to flourish in our diverse global community.
