The Religion and Philosophy Department at the University of La Verne provides students with a chance to examine how ideas have shaped civilizations and personal beliefs across different eras and societies.
Religious studies encourage an academic approach to understanding faith systems and their values. Philosophy classes push students to engage with foundational intellectual traditions that have influenced human thought. The Inter-faith minor fosters awareness and respect for our diverse religious landscape. Every course prioritizes analytical thinking and assessing multiple viewpoints to help students develop their own informed perspectives.
Students can pursue Bachelor of Arts degrees in Religion, Philosophy, or a combined Religion/Philosophy program. Minors are offered in Religion, Philosophy, or Inter-faith Studies.

Qualification Requirements

If you are finishing up high school or are a recent high school graduate, you will be applying as a first-time freshman student. When reviewing freshmen applications, our admissions committee will be looking to see if you have completed the following classes and passed with a grade of C or better (no foreign language courses are required): four years of English, three years of social science, passed or surpassed Algebra 2
and two years of science (one must be a lab).
