Careers in environmental engineering typically start with foundational education in conventional engineering fields, but demand additional interdisciplinary training to broaden expertise for tackling environmental challenges. For students pursuing engineering degrees who aim to enter environment-focused professions, the environmental engineering certificate supplements the standard curriculum provided by the UK College of Engineering. To earn the Environmental Engineering Undergraduate Certificate, students must complete 12 credit hours of courses at the 200-level or above and submit a report demonstrating their ability to apply environmental engineering and science principles to solve interdisciplinary environmental issues. This program merges engineering, biology, and chemistry fundamentals to create sustainable answers to environmental problems affecting both ecosystems and human health.
