The Department of Mining Engineering provides graduate programs leading to Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Mining Engineering. These programs aim to deliver advanced applied science knowledge for the mining sector while enabling focused research specialization. The Master of Science in Mining Engineering is designed as a research-focused degree, ideal for careers involving technical problem-solving, research, or innovation. To complete this program, students must either: 1) complete 24 course credits plus an approved thesis (Plan A), or 2) complete 30 course credits with a research topic report (Plan B). Typically, Plan B is intended for students who have previously shown competence in independent research and reporting.
