For over six decades, the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce has delivered an outstanding master's program designed to equip emerging leaders for successful careers in global affairs. Known for its intentionally small scale, rigorous admissions standards, and dual emphasis on diplomacy and international business, the Patterson School produces graduates who secure dynamic positions across government agencies, global institutions, NGOs, research centers, and corporate environments. In collaboration with the University of Kentucky Law School, the Patterson School offers a combined law and diplomacy degree that students can complete within four years. This dual qualification creates exceptional opportunities across private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Prospective students must submit separate applications to both programs, indicating their interest in the joint degree option. You should submit a one to two page resume describing your academic, extracurricular, and employment activities. The resume should include any activities (personal, professional, volunteer, internship experience) that reflect exposure to international affairs or public policy. It should also clearly indicate foreign language completence and foreign experience.
Personal Statement
Approximately 500 words. Your essay should help us understand what inspired you to study international affairs and put your career goals in perspective. It should convey a sense of what matters to you most and why, plus how attending the Patterson School program would help you achieve your ambition. The Admissions Committee seeks students with a wide variety of skills, accomplishments, and temperaments. The GRE is not required for admission to this program.
'Students planning to pursue a dual degree program with the Kentucky Law School are required to submit LSAT scores. For the Graduate School, the minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 550 (paper-based) 213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based). The minimum IELTS score is 6.5

An overall grade point average of 2.75 on undergraduate work and 3.00 on all graduate work is required by the Graduate School.
