The TESL Graduate Certificate (12 credits) offers foundational training in key teaching methodologies for English as a second or foreign language. This TESL/TESOL certification serves as a widely accepted teaching qualification across global educational settings. To complete the Graduate TESL Certificate, students must take 9 graduate-level credits in TESL courses plus a 3-credit supervised teaching practicum. For the Graduate School, the minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 550 (paper-based) 213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based). The minimum IELTS score is 6.5

An overall grade point average of 2.75 on undergraduate work and 3.00 on all graduate work is required by the Graduate School. Many graduate programs also require letters of recommendation Students seeking admission to the Graduate School must have obtained a baccalaureate degree, prior to the start of the term for which s/he is admitted, from a fully accredited U.S. institution of higher learning or from a recognized foreign institution.
