Experts in these fields among our faculty are Clare Batty (philosophy of mind), Julia Bursten (philosophy of science), Brandon Look (metaphysics), Theodore Schatzki (philosophy of social science), Tim Sundell (philosophy of language, epistemology), and Megan Wallace (metaphysics). Our Ph.D. program aims to cultivate students' capacity to earn their Doctoral degree, equipping them for independent philosophical research, academic positions at universities or colleges, or careers demanding analytical and rigorous thought.

Qualification Requirements

The minimum requirements for admission to the graduate program in Philosophy are:

Proof of completion of a B.A., B.S., or M.A.
Evidence of superior skills on the GRE
An overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale in all undergraduate work and, an overall GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale in all graduate work (if appilcable). For the Graduate School, the minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 550 (paper-based) 213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based). The minimum IELTS score is 6.5
