The Journalism program equips students for leadership positions in the evolving media landscape by combining a solid journalism foundation with a broad liberal arts education. Students explore media frameworks, ethical considerations, legal aspects, historical developments, and journalism's impact in diverse communities. The curriculum fosters analytical abilities and critical thinking for effective cross-platform communication. With three specialized tracks, the program readies graduates for careers as journalists, visual storytellers, editors, media producers, digital content creators, and other roles demanding expertise in media production. The program covers both conventional and emerging media formats. The culminating experience involves managing an active multimedia blog. Practical training includes hands-on work at the campus radio station, where students create, write, and broadcast daily news segments along with weekly community programs. Additionally, students develop and present live daily newscasts for a regional cable network.
