Music Performance majors develop into skilled professional musicians with comprehensive training in music theory and history. They participate in diverse ensembles and receive one-on-one instruction from our distinguished faculty throughout their academic journey. The University of Kentucky's School of Music offers a close-knit learning atmosphere while providing the advantages of a major research institution. Our faculty includes over 50 full-time and 15 part-time instructors who excel in teaching, performance, and scholarly work, standing as authorities in their fields. Thanks to our favorable faculty-to-student ratio, students enjoy personalized attention through small class sizes and exceptional private lessons. Performance opportunities include prestigious groups such as the University Chorale, University Choristers, Men's Chorus, Women's Choir, Symphony Orchestra, UK Philharmonia, Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, Concert Band, Wildcat Marching Band, and three Jazz Ensembles, along with various smaller ensembles.
