Our program focuses on cultivating students' proficiency in Spanish while expanding their knowledge of Spanish-speaking cultures and literary works both at home and internationally. It enhances analytical abilities and fosters a greater sense of responsibility as engaged members of diverse local and global communities. The Spanish major opens doors to numerous career paths in the U.S. and internationally, including education, public service, legal fields, social work, healthcare, hospitality, media, and non-profit sectors. Graduates often pursue advanced studies in medicine, education, business, law, or regional studies.
Spanish majors can select from three specialized tracks: Spanish linguistics, Hispanic literature and cultural studies, or a comprehensive Spanish program. Through these options, students refine their language capabilities, gain profound insights into Spanish-speaking societies and their literary traditions, strengthen critical analysis skills, and develop a heightened consciousness of their participation in multicultural communities worldwide.
