The Journalism program equips students for leadership positions in the evolving media landscape by combining a solid foundation of journalism studies with a broad liberal arts education. Students explore media industry frameworks, ethical considerations, legal regulations, historical developments, and the press's function in a multicultural world. The curriculum fosters analytical abilities and critical thought to effectively engage audiences across various media channels. Three specialized tracks prepare graduates for careers as journalists, visual storytellers, content creators, media executives, or roles demanding expertise in communication, news production, digital publishing, or broadcasting. The program covers both conventional and emerging media formats. A culminating project involves managing an ongoing multimedia blog. Practical training includes hands-on work at the campus radio station, where students create, script, and broadcast daily news segments along with weekly community programs. Additionally, they develop, report, and present live daily newscasts for a regional cable network.
