Drawing serves as a fundamental practice for all SA/VS students, forming the cornerstone of their journey as visual creators in our rapidly changing world. Whether your aspirations lean toward illustration, painting, printmaking, photography, graphic design, animation, sculpture, installation, or immersive reality, the observational and technical abilities honed through drawing establish a foundation for innovative artistic growth. In intermediate and advanced courses, students craft independent projects while investigating modern and experimental techniques. This involves incorporating personal perspectives, examining visual storytelling through both traditional and digital tools, and embracing diverse creative formats. Material exploration spans from pastels and colored pencils to watercolors, pens, markers, collage, and digital art programs. Students also delve into specialized areas like figure studies, sketchbook techniques, sequential storytelling/comics, and book arts.
