Studio art students delve into and produce works utilizing the vocabulary of two- and three-dimensional forms, spatial relationships, and temporal elements across diverse mediums and technologies. These include ceramics, digital arts, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Undergraduate students can choose between two studio art degree paths. The bachelor of arts in studio art offers a broad liberal arts foundation, while the bachelor of fine arts provides professional preparation for those pursuing art careers, design fields, or advanced graduate studies.
Students in both the Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Arts Sculpture programs engage in rigorous studio practice enriched by one-on-one mentorship, peer collaboration, guest artist visits, technical demonstrations, and critical evaluations. The current curriculum prioritizes fine arts excellence, emphasizes technical proficiency, and introduces students to sculpture's historical context alongside modern artistic methods and theories. Student work spans traditional techniques like fabrication, modeling, casting, and carving to innovative approaches involving video, performance, and multimedia installations. This interdisciplinary framework nurtures each individual's distinctive perspective, fostering varied interpretations and creative expressions.
