KU Chemistry's faculty are committed to guiding both undergraduate and graduate students, fostering their development into scientifically proficient researchers. Beyond mandatory lectures and lab work, students can engage in cutting-edge research across diverse chemistry disciplines, from microfluidics and precision medicine to sustainable catalysis.
The American Chemical Society-approved Bachelor of Science (B.S.) program delivers comprehensive chemistry training alongside mathematics, physics, and biochemistry coursework, equipping graduates for chemistry careers. For greater flexibility, the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) program requires fewer chemistry courses, enabling students to explore interdisciplinary studies or customize their chemistry focus. A chemistry minor is also available for those pursuing complementary academic interests.
Admission will be granted to students who meet the following standard:
A minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for all previous coursework, including transfer coursework.
English Proficiency:
TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition: 79 (18 minimum subscore)
TOEFL paper-delivered test: 60 (18 minimum subscore)
IELTS: 6.5 (6.0 minimum subscore)
