Visual Communication Design, or Graphic Design, enables students to harness their artistic talents, research-backed design concepts, and technical skills to create impactful visuals that inform, engage, and motivate viewers. This discipline influences our daily environment, from urban centers to natural settings, conveying messages, guiding actions, shaping decisions, and sharing narratives. KU's Visual Communication Design curriculum challenges students to rethink traditional methods through experimentation, practical application, and structured design investigation.
Our graduates emerge as skilled graphic designers, UX/UI specialists, marketing innovators, and adaptable communicators in diverse fields. The program cultivates forward-thinking professionals and community-minded leaders prepared for dynamic career opportunities.
The BFA in Design with a Visual Communication focus follows a structured four-year course progression starting from the admission term. Studio courses are offered seasonally (fall or spring) and cannot be completed in an accelerated format.
