The English Department at KU stands at the heart of the humanities, celebrating what makes us human through personalized student interactions, our focus on community and global involvement, and our enduring fascination with humanity's shared narratives. We aim to stimulate intellectual curiosity and spark creativity in our students, guiding them to ask meaningful questions and pursue knowledge. We empower them to navigate the intricacies of our culturally and economically interdependent world, along with the global systems that facilitate cultural exchange. We're convinced that language and thought have the power to transform society. Our students develop enduring abilities, mastering clear, imaginative, and impactful writing while discovering their identities and building a strong base for career achievement.
