The Master of Arts program prepares aspiring educators across all scientific fields. Candidates with an existing bachelor's degree can earn their Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) with science education licensure within two years. This program combines graduate-level science studies with teacher certification requirements. Applicants typically need 56 undergraduate science credits but no prior education coursework. A bachelor's degree in science, comparable to the University of Iowa's standards, is required. Those with robust majors from other institutions may qualify for licensure in their specific scientific field. This MAT program primarily serves science graduates who later choose to pursue teaching careers.
A U.S. bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or an equivalent degree from another country as determined by the Office of Admissions with a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00.
