Biostatistics focuses on introducing students to diverse statistical techniques, including survival analysis, categorical data analysis, and longitudinal data analysis. This training equips graduates for careers in consulting and various industry roles. The Statistics PhD program mandates at least 76 semester hours of graduate coursework, counting credits earned during the MS degree. Doctoral candidates fulfill core requirements by selecting courses from four specialization tracks: biostatistics, probability/mathematical statistics, data science, or actuarial science/financial mathematics. Students may supplement their studies with interdisciplinary courses or seminars to connect their specialization with other disciplines, develop digital computing proficiency, or gain foreign language skills for accessing international research and collaborating with global scholars.
