As part of both a distinguished School of Music and a leading research institution, the musicology program offers students exceptional academic resources, performance experiences, and connections to a globally recognized scholarly community. Weekly meetings bring together students and faculty to exchange research ideas, welcome visiting scholars, and analyze new publications. These regular interactions foster a dynamic environment dedicated to advancing musicological scholarship. The faculty's research spans diverse subjects, with special focus on American musical traditions - exploring areas like female musicians' contributions, cinematic scores, New Orleans jazz culture, and digital music platforms. Alongside intensive coursework, students gain practical experience by presenting at academic conferences and serving as teaching assistants for classes covering classical, global, and contemporary popular music traditions.
