Qualification Requirements

Applicants must have

  • Bachelor's Degree other than a BSW or a BSW that was earned more than five years ago
  • A minimum GPA of 2.8. A GPA of 3.0 or higher for the student's last 60 credits is preferred. Students below the minimum GPA can petition the MSW Admission Committee for an exemption from the GPA criteria if they believe they have special circumstances.
  • 18 undergraduate or graduate credits in social and behavioral courses (e.g. Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Anthropology, Economics) and a course in Statistics (if not taken as an undergraduate, must be taken no later than the first semester of foundation year).

FOR THE ADVANCED STANDING PROGRAM

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from a program accredited by the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) within the past 5 years
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.8 in all courses and a minimum GPA of 3.25 in all social work courses. Students below the minimum GPA can petition the MSW Admission Committee for an exemption from the GPA criteria if they believe they have special circumstances.
  • A course in Statistics (it is highly recommended that statistics is taken before entering the program; under special circumstances, it can be taken no later than the first semester of the program).
  • TOEFL - 100 IBT required, IELTS - 7.0 required
