The University of Illinois offers a Master of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology (MS in MCB) as a coursework-focused program without a thesis requirement. This degree is designed for students seeking advanced training for professional or graduate studies, as well as careers in industry, government, or academic settings. The curriculum aims to deliver comprehensive knowledge and analytical skills in molecular and cellular biology at an advanced level, eliminating the need for a research thesis. Although the MS in MCB can serve as groundwork for PhD studies in related fields, few students transition directly into the University of Illinois' MCB PhD program after completing this degree.
