More employers in consulting and industry now view a master's degree as the standard entry-level qualification. The Ph.D. program focuses on in-depth learning and involvement in groundbreaking research at the forefront of the discipline. Our department features one of the nation's premier graduate programs in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Students can pursue the M.S. degree either with or without a thesis. The thesis option demands 32 graduate credit hours (including 8 thesis credits), while the non-thesis path requires 36 credits. The non-thesis M.S. can potentially be finished within one year or faster. Every MSCE or MSEE candidate must seek guidance from their advisor. All programs mandate at least 16 credits in the student's primary field, with 12 credits from 500-level courses - including 8 graded credits in the major. A maximum of four credits from CEE 597 Independent Study can count toward these requirements.
