The Language & Literacy Education (L&L) program motivates students to examine both the wide-ranging challenges in contemporary language and literacy instruction, while also allowing them to focus intensively on specific concentrations through academic studies and self-directed research. Language & Literacy Education (L&L) fosters student investigation into topics concerning multicultural and multilingual diversity, bilingual/ESL teaching methods, youth literature, and literacy development in educational and social settings. Participants may fulfill requirements for Illinois' Bilingual/ESL certification. This curriculum equips future educators to thoughtfully participate in academic work that influences teaching approaches and regulations across local and international environments.
