The Department of Computer Science ranks among the world's oldest and most prestigious, maintaining a consistent position in the top five graduate programs globally. It provides advanced studies culminating in master's or doctoral degrees, including a specialized interdisciplinary master's in bioinformatics. For working professionals unable to attend on-campus classes, the department also delivers an online master's program. Recent years have seen legal education increasingly intersect with various academic fields. Leveraging the university's extensive resources, the College of Law partners with graduate departments to create several dual-degree opportunities. Applicants must gain acceptance to both programs with departmental pre-approval, but credit sharing between programs enables accelerated completion. Each degree has specific credit requirements: 32 credits for the M.C.S. and 90 for the J.D., with overlapping credits reducing the total time needed to earn both qualifications.
