Expanding upon its top-tier environmental law curriculum, the College of Law provides an LL.M. in Environmental Law and Policy. This advanced degree enables J.D. graduates to specialize in or deepen their understanding of environmental regulations, energy policies, and land use legislation. The program emphasizes personalized guidance, pairing each new student with faculty advisors who offer mentorship and assist in crafting tailored course plans. Participants may also cross-register for relevant courses across Florida State University and choose part-time enrollment options. Beyond comprehensive instruction from legal specialists, students gain advantages from our Tallahassee location. As Florida's governmental hub, the capital offers LL.M. candidates numerous prospects for internships and employment with state agencies, judicial bodies, advocacy groups, legislative offices, and prominent private practices throughout their studies.
A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable degree from an international institution, with a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average (GPA) in all coursework attempted while enrolled as an upper-division undergraduate student working towards a bachelor's degree; or A graduate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable degree from an international institution.
Any international applicant to the LL.M in American Law or the LL.M in Business Law who earned his or her first law degree outside the U.S. must obtain a minimum TOEFL score of 80 or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5. Applicants to the LL.M. in Environmental Law must obtain a minimum TOEFL score of 90 or a minimum IELTS score of 7.5.
