The School of Music provides extensive musical education for aspiring artists who wish to blend their creative passions with academic studies by pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Specializations for this doctoral program include choral music, instrumental conducting (both wind band and orchestra), jazz performance, music composition, performance and literature, as well as vocal coaching and accompaniment. Typically requiring at least three years to complete, the DMA program mandates that students maintain active on-campus enrollment throughout their coursework.

Requirements for admission to the Master of Music (MM) programs are a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or an equivalent degree from another accredited institution. TOEFL - 96 IBT , IELTS - 7 must have a score of 6.5 or higher in all sub-sections. A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (A=4.0), or comparable GPA for an international applicant, for last two years of undergraduate study is a minimum requirement for admission.
