As a food science student, you'll explore the physical, microbial, and chemical characteristics of food to deepen your knowledge of production processes and develop innovative new products. Building expertise in food's fundamental properties will enable you to help maintain a safe, plentiful, nutritious, and superior-quality food supply.
Hands-on learning awaits in our Pilot Processing Plant, where cutting-edge research transforms into finished dishes served in University Dining Halls as part of the Illinois Sustainable Food Project. You'll also create and experiment with fresh recipes at our dining venues, Bevier Café and the Spice Box.
