The acting program offers comprehensive training across various performance disciplines. During their initial two years, students complete core acting courses covering movement and vocal techniques. Second-year BFA Acting candidates undergo assessment to advance into upper-level studio classes (Junior and Senior years). Advancement requires not only passing all first- and second-year coursework but also demonstrating professional performance potential. Evaluation criteria encompass expressive physicality, vocal proficiency, emotional depth in characterization, analytical rigor, and commitment to rigorous study. Students not advancing may transfer to the Theatre Studies track. Upperclassmen attend daily four-hour sessions integrating voice, movement, and acting training, while developing specialized skills like stage combat and accent work. The advanced acting curriculum explores contemporary and classical texts, musical theater, Shakespearean works, and on-camera techniques. Those in the professional acting studio must audition for departmental productions and participate when cast.
