The BFA program invites you to dive deep into industrial design's key discussions, principles, and historical context. Our curriculum focuses on self-directed exploration and hands-on problem-solving through experiential projects. With guidance from instructors and classmates, you'll develop designs that balance aesthetic appeal, commercial potential, and practical functionality. You'll craft solutions ranging from toys and sporting goods to household items, medical devices, and pet products - all while bringing concepts to life through continuous prototyping. Through solo and collaborative work, you'll build a diverse portfolio capped by a senior thesis project, equipping you for professional industrial design practice or related career paths. The 122-credit program trains students in mass-produced product design that serves human and environmental needs, stressing market awareness, systematic problem-solving approaches, production techniques and cost considerations, environmentally conscious aesthetics, consumer satisfaction, and adaptability to technological and cultural shifts.
