The Industrial Design (ID) program at Brigham Young University provides a Bachelor of Fine Arts undergraduate degree through the Ira R. Fulton College of Engineering. Its purpose is to support the industrial design field by producing graduates who quickly become valuable assets to their employers and demonstrate the potential to grow into leadership positions. This program teaches students techniques for generating, refining, and presenting product and service ideas that enhance human experiences and connections through aesthetic appeal, creative problem-solving, and meaningful design.
Starting in Fall 2022, the Industrial Design major will relocate to the Department of Design within the College of Fine Arts and Communications. Please be aware that admissions to the pre-Industrial Design track are currently on hold while the department finalizes the program's updated curriculum. The existing industrial design program will be discontinued in its current format. For students considering Industrial Design as a major during this transition, exploring the diverse options available in the Department of Design is recommended.
