The World Literature major maintains the comparative and global perspective of comparative literature while concentrating on international literary works and cultures available in English translation (no foreign language proficiency needed). World literature encompasses writings that reach audiences and influence beyond their native linguistic and cultural boundaries. Students choosing World Literature as their major need to fulfill 48 credit hours, with a minimum of 12 hours in 300-level or higher courses. Participation in Study Abroad programs and interdisciplinary studies is highly recommended.
