The Comparative Literature program offers students the opportunity to explore multiple literary and cultural traditions in their original languages. This interdisciplinary field examines literature and culture across national boundaries, historical eras, linguistic differences, various genres, and connections between literature and other art forms (including visual arts, music, performance, and cinema), as well as intersections with other academic disciplines (such as philosophy, science, law, history, and social sciences). The program actively promotes international study and multilingual engagement. Majors must complete 48 credit hours, with a minimum of 12 at the 300-level or higher. In addition to English proficiency, students are required to demonstrate advanced competency in at least one foreign language to enroll in upper-division literature courses within foreign language departments.
