Examining literature, texts, and culture helps students develop critical thinking skills to assess important social and creative themes found in fiction, plays, poems, films, and essays. As an English student, you'll gain advanced writing abilities to investigate challenging questions and develop meaningful responses.
The Topics in English specialization allows for deep exploration of specific subject areas, concluding with a comprehensive senior project. Drawing from faculty expertise, the program offers focused study clusters: Literature & Science (covering technology, medicine, neuroscience, and environmental humanities), Media Cultures (including manuscript studies, print culture, visual arts, digital media, and performance), and Race, Indigeneity, Gender, & Sexuality (RIGS).
