The Master of Education in Language, Literacies and Learning (LLL) equips educators to tackle the distinctive demands of language and literacy education in today's diverse, technology-driven society. This program embraces a broad understanding of literacy that incorporates both digital tools and experiential learning, emphasizing instruction in multilingual urban environments and supporting English language learners.
By studying with our Curriculum & Instruction faculty, you'll develop specialized knowledge in one or more of these key areas:
Teaching language and literacy (including ESL and digital literacy skills) across various educational settings - from elementary and secondary schools to alternative environments like after-school programs and adult education
Applying language and literacy research to influence educational practices and policies
Developing leadership approaches for administrators to enhance language and literacy instruction throughout schools and districts
In addition to the Graduate College minimum requirements, applicants must meet the following program requirements: Baccalaureate Field No restrictions. Grade Point Average Recommended minimum of 2.75/4.00 for the final 60 semester (90 quarter) hours of undergraduate study and at least 3.00 for all postbaccalaureate/graduate course work.
Minimum English Competency Test Score: TOEFL 80, with sub scores of Reading 19, Listening 17, Speaking 20, and Writing 21 (iBT Test); 60, with sub scores of Reading 19, Listening 17, Writing 21 (revised Paper-Delivered Test), OR, IELTS 6.5, with sub scores of 6.0 for all four sub scores, OR, PTE-Academic 54, with sub scores of Reading 51, Listening 47, Speaking 53, and Writing 56.
