The Classical Studies major and minor provides an interdisciplinary approach to learning, encompassing diverse subjects including mythology, drama, philosophy, science, gender studies, political theory, sociology, and anthropology—delivering a comprehensive liberal arts education within one cohesive program.
Departmental courses center on the cultures of Ancient Greece, Rome, the Ancient Near East, Egypt, the Arabic world, and modern Greece, exploring their languages, literature, history, philosophy, religion, art, and archaeology. Our program fosters interdisciplinary study, engaging with topics from astronomy to geography, mythology to philology, literary criticism to political theory, sociology to anthropology—offering a well-rounded liberal arts foundation within a single academic department.
First-year applicants are currently enrolled in high school or have not attended college since graduation.
