As a recreation professional with specialized knowledge and advanced education, you'll be equipped to encourage active living and contribute to building healthier communities.
This curriculum examines modern challenges and sophisticated principles concerning the administration and leadership of recreational and physical activity initiatives across various settings. These include municipal and university sports facilities, outdoor recreation areas, and the travel and tourism sector. You'll develop skills to design, coordinate, and oversee recreational activities aimed at enhancing physical engagement and wellbeing for diverse groups - from young people and seniors to athletes, travelers, outdoor enthusiasts, and other community members.
The program offers unparalleled practical learning opportunities, utilizing both the university's recreational amenities and Idaho's abundant natural landscapes as living classrooms. Students can opt to finish the degree in either one or two years, with certain courses scheduled during evenings to suit working professionals. The majority of graduate candidates in this program select a 6-credit professional internship rather than completing a thesis.
