The Mechanical Engineering Department offers a robust graduate program focused on in-depth study and research across key disciplines including dynamics and controls, fluid mechanics and thermal transfer, materials science engineering, and theoretical and computational mechanics. Ongoing research initiatives explore:

computational fluid dynamics addressing challenges from blood circulation systems to offshore platform dynamics,
managing sophisticated systems like engine emission controls, space satellites, and intelligent material structures,
structural health assessment and design enhancement for applications spanning microscopic devices to large-scale bridges,
biomedical investigations covering biosensors, miniature bioreactors, and cardiovascular health prediction systems,
empirical analysis of turbulent flows in power generation systems and micro-scale heat exchanger dual-phase flows.

Qualification Requirements

a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a related field, preferably from an accredited engineering program.
a grade point average of at least 3.00 out of 4.00 on the last 60 semester credit hours attempted exclusive of grades received for activities such as seminars, physical education, industrial internships, etc.

The minimum TOEFL score required is 79 for the internet-based test.
The minimum TOEFL score for the paper-based (pBT) exam is 550 or higher.
The minimum TOEFL score for the new revised paper-based exam is: Reading 20, Listening 20, and Writing 20.
The minimum IELTS score required is an overall score of a 6.5.
