The Master of Arts in World Cultures and Literatures offers a cutting-edge, cross-disciplinary graduate experience centered on cultural studies while providing specialized focus in specific languages and cultures. The curriculum explores contemporary themes including modern and postmodern thought, global interconnectedness, colonial histories and postcolonial realities, cross-border cultural exchanges, urban environments and diaspora communities, along with identity formation processes. The program integrates scholarly approaches from literature, cinema, visual arts, media analysis, and gender research. Language-focused students develop advanced linguistic competence, translation expertise, and, depending on their specialization, may receive instruction in applied linguistics and language education methodologies.
