The Katherine G. McGovern College of the Arts (KGMCA) brings together the University of Houston's fine arts programs, encompassing the Schools of Art, Music, and Theatre & Dance. This academic unit also oversees the interdisciplinary Master of Arts in Arts Leadership program, along with the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts, Blaffer Art Museum, and Center for Arts Leadership.
KGMCA offers instruction in traditional artistic disciplines while fostering interdisciplinary learning through partnerships across campus. Students gain professional skills through collaborations with Houston's vibrant arts community - the nation's fourth-largest city and a premier cultural hub for the 21st century.
Each year, the college organizes diverse cultural and professional programs including the Texas Music Festival, Houston Shakespeare Festival, Counter-Current Festival, The Contemporary Project, and Leadership in the Arts Summit. These complement the year-round exhibitions and performances that make the University of Houston campus one of the city's most energetic and creative arts districts.
